Legal Situation
Dear Richard,
You appear very brave regarding this thing but I know that the burden is great. I hope that the end result is similar to Daniel in the lion's den. Know that this man's prayers go up for you!
Best Regards,
Bob Harris

Emails Just Keep on Coming
The emails that continue to surface paint a picture that is almost too ugly to look at—but impossible to ignore. The manner in which members of the jury set out to convict Richard Scrushy and Governor Siegelman and how they worked to twist our justice system to tear them down is something that chills me to the very core.
Shouldn’t the U.S. Attorneys and the Judge primary concern be to seek the truth and find justice? Yet, the government appears to only be concerned with destroying these men’s lives and making life miserable for their families—regardless of their guilt or innocence. Instead of investigating whether these emails are legitimate or if there is any truth to their content, the U.S. Attorneys and the Judge seem all too eager to simply dismiss them and the information they contain. I can only assume they have something to hide.
How can anyone, whether it is the prosecutors, the jury or the people in the government, abuse their duty and the public trust by pursuing personal or political vendettas? I have faith that one day people will open their eyes to reality, see the unfounded persecution Scrushy and Siegelman have endured and be willing to accept the truth about their innocence.

Baseless Conviction
As a citizen of Alabama, it has been hard not to follow events of your trials; first with the HealthSouth trial and secondly, with your and Governor Don Siegelman’s conviction. I have watched as the press and government have maliciously sought to convict and imprison you for crimes you did not commit.
During the HealthSouth trial, you were set free because there was no evidence against you; because you had done nothing wrong. During the trial in Montgomery, with no evidence, no testimony and no documentation, the government was able to convict you of a baseless crime.
It simply does not add up. What crime were they able to prove? Where is the victim? The facts are that no money exchanged hands and that no one directly or indirectly benefited from the contributions that you helped to raise for the Alabama Education Foundation. Richard Scrushy is probably the only man that has ever been indicted and convicted for donating to a charitable organization.
It is disturbing to have seen the torment you and your family have gone through and to have witnessed such a merciless persecution of an innocent man. I want you to know that I have seen these injustices unfold and I hope that one day people will see truth.
The truth is obvious – you have done nothing wrong. You secured a charitable donation and served on a volunteer board. Every individual sitting in an appointed position down in Montgomery has done more to be guilty of bribery than you– particularly those in paying position.
I have watched as the press has tried to paint you as some evil villain, yet it is the press and the government that has revealed themselves as the true villain. Is this how our society works? Do we simply toss out any regard for the truth or for justice when it serves our own agendas? I pray that it does not and that as you continue through the appeals process, that justice will prevail, and that you will be vindicated.

Huntsville Times Article
To Whom It May Concern:
Last Sunday, Ricky Thomason at the Huntsville Times wrote and article entitled “Beware of God's mouthpiece if he has false teeth.” In this article, Thomason directly attacks the sincerity and motive behind Richard Scrushy’s ministry and pastoral services. As a pastor and member of Richard Scrushy’s ministry, I take serious offense to this inaccurate, unwarranted and spiteful comment.
This comment was made to insult Scrushy yet it went deeper – it is an insult to the fellow pastors and bishops who work in conjunction with Scrushy in his ministry and to each and every individual that is apart of his ministry.
Richard Scrushy has served as a pastor for several years. He currently ministers at Grace and Purpose Church and also serves as co-pastor at Trinity Life Church. He also works with Kingdom Builders International Ministries, which focuses on missions, evangelism, and education.
By calling into question the sincerity of Richard Scrushy’s spiritual conviction undermines not only my faith but the members of Grace and Purpose Church’s religious devotion and our dedication to God. I think Mr. Thompson aught to apologize both to Richard Scrushy and to the members of Grace and Purpose Church.

HealthSouth in Critical Condition Without Scrushy
On December 5, 2006, the Birmingham News editorialized that HealthSouth benefits every time it puts a little more distance between its current leadership and the Scrushy era. Nothing could be further from the truth!
It has been almost four years since Richard Scrushy has left HealthSouth and revenues and profits continue to decrease. Simply by utilizing some basic marketing skills at some point over these four years, HealthSouth should have been able to increase by at least $1 or by one patient.
Remember, that without Richard Scrushy there would be no HealthSouth, no medical centers, no clinics--zilch! Now this economic machine that has fueled Alabama's economy created jobs, has provided affordable quality healthcare and has served as the backbone for Alabama's universities medical programs is being run into the ground.
Richard Scrushy was the founder and CEO of HealthSouth for 20 years. He is the man that created the worlds largest healthcare company, created the quality reputation associated with HealthSouth that the current leadership at HealthSouth is destroying.
Despite any personal opinions one may have about Richard Scrushy or his legal battles, there are certain undeniable truths--he is, without a doubt, a brilliant businessman. The man knows how to build a business and make it thrive. He was able to take HealthSouth from $0 to a multi-billion dollar company in just a few years.
My only question or concern regarding HealthSouth's new leadership--or lack there of--is its constant inability to increase its shareholder value. From the perspective of a shareholder, why not ask why is it that Grinney refuses to take any initiative and work to expand and grow HealthSouth? Grinney simply refuses to do his job, to work to develop a marketing plan to bring in new customers and generate new revenue.
Its been four years since Richard Scrushy left; how much more distance do you need?
Its time Grinney took some responsible for his own inability to perform as CEO.
